Kansas City Crime Threatens To Close Tax-Funded Grocery Store

Kansas City taxpayers funded a grocery store at 31st & Prospect with the hope that an economic boost would help alleviate a "food desert" and provide opportunity for the urban core.

Sadly . . .

RISING CRIME THREATENS TO SHUT DOWN KANSAS CITY'S TAXPAYER FUNDED GROCERY STORE!!!

And then . . .

THE EAST SIDE OPERATION NEEDS HALF-A-MILLION BOOKS TO MAKE IT THRU THE HOLIDAYS!!!

Unfortunately . . .

Most denizens of our blog community predicted this effort wouldn't work back in 2018 when complaints about crime emerged on opening day.

Since that time the situation has become progressively worse . . .

This year some poor lady routinely showing up naked at the story is just one of many dangers confronting workers & shoppers.

It's a no-win situation either way but the we wanted to share this report because the situation seems increasingly dire . . . With no apparent fix in the works . . . Check-it:

The store has experienced vandalism, prostitution, sex trafficking and drug activity in its parking lot, deterring customers from shopping.

"When Brookside screams, there's crime. We jump right on it. Here we've been screaming about crime for the past year and a half, and we're just now jumping on," Pierson said.

The store is requesting more police presence, arrests, and prosecutions, as well as $500,000 to remain open past the holidays.
