Mayor Q played down the controversy and noted his recent migrant invitation drama that didn't have much lasting impact.

Here's his quote that speaks to the Mayor's stance on immigration . . .

"Kansas City is a community that is welcoming. What we are not is a place that violates the laws broadly, we have never talked about that . . . There are ways that you can have good, lawful migration to your community where everybody is following the rules and they can become good, hard-working citizens and business owners of our city. That's what Kansas City has always been about. We have never said, 'We just want 50,000 people in encampments. We have never said we want to violate any of our federal or state laws.

"I said months ago, this was much ado about nothing and it was Republicans, frankly, just trying to gain attention for reelection campaigns and primaries. They were able to do that. And we're all sitting around and you see, nothing ever really happened."
