KC Tenants Announce Rent Strike

Our snarky TKC context . . .

Kansas City election season officially begins when local activists encourage self-destructive behavior in order to advance their agenda.

But we don't want to ruin anybody's (communist) party . . . So here's a more hopeful perceptive . . .

KC TENANTS DECLARE RENT STRIKE THAT THREATENS OPEN UP NEW HOUSING & UPGRADES FOR PAYING CUSTOMERS!!!

Again . . .

In theory, we support collective bargaining and the power of unions.

However . . .

Trusting your living situation to a political group funded by dark money is not an enviable situation and we honestly feel sorry for anybody when activists are their last hope.

As always, we share documentation, public comment and more info . . .

RENT STRIKE AUTHORIZATION: LAST NIGHT TWO KC-AREA BUILDING UNIONS VOTED TO AUTHORIZE RENT STRIKES TO LAUNCH OCTOBER 1.

Quality Hill Towers and Independence Towers, both majority unions in federally financed properties, demand national rent caps, new ownership, bargained leases.

These rent strikes are the first in KC Tenants history, and the first ever strikes to target the Federal Housing Finance Authority, the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac regulator.

If FHFA fails to negotiate and/or if the landlords fail to do so by 5 PM on Monday, the strike is on.

KC Tenants: "What is a rent strike? Tenants' ultimate power is our rent. A rent strike is an organized, collective action in which tenants strategically withhold their rent in order to win a set of demands. Strikes are high-stakes actions that come at the end of a long arc of engagement."
