We can't deny their captivating science . . .
However . . .
Begrudging local workers their salaries on Labor Day isn't really a good look and might provide some insight as to why the GOP has seemingly lost Johnson County.
Complaining about the high salaries of custodians comes off as elitist and ignores populist inroads won by MAGA which seems to be the zeitgeist of the GOP on the national level.
Even a cursory glimpse at CEO salaries should remind us all that workers on the low-end are entitled to whatever they can get.
Still . . .
For fiscal hawks here's a reminder the local guv work pays well . . .
Shawnee Mission spent over $500,000 on six Administrative Interns last year. It has a four-person Communications team that costs more than $400,000. The Customer Service Director was paid $122,000 (who are the customers, if not students?).
Almost $250,000 was spent on a four-person TV Production unit. A groundkeeper earned more than $100,000, and almost 30 people with ‘custodian’ in their title earned more than $50,000.
