Kansas City 2024 Homicides #113 & #114: Deadly Gunfire Overnight

Shooting amid arguments and otherwise continues to claim lives in this cowtown.

For this early morning update we share the latest info from the scenes of two different Kansas City homicide scenes wherein police are asking for cooperation, TIPS and help as the quotient of local killing continues to spike toward the end of the year.

Homicide 4200 block of Agnes

This evening just after 8:30 PM officers were dispatched to the 4200 block of Agnes Avenue on a reported disturbance. While officers were in route to the address, call notes were updated and indicated someone may have been shot.

Officers arrived on scene to the dispatched address and located an adult male victim on the front porch of a residence, unresponsive and suffering from apparent gunshot trauma. Officer immediately began to render medical aid until EMS personnel responded and transported the victim to an area hospital. In route to the hospital, officers were advised the victim had succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased.

UPDATE: A person of interest, adult male, was taken into custody for further investigation.

There is no preliminary information indicating what may have led up to the shooting at this time.

Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene to begin gathering any evidence and collecting witness statements.

This incident is being investigated as homicide is considered ongoing.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.

Homicide 6300 block of Manchester Ave

On 09/12/24 just before 9:45 PM, officers were dispatched to the 6300 block of Manchester Avenue on a reported shooting.

When officers arrived on scene, they were directed inside of an apartment where they located an unresponsive adult male victim suffering from apparent gunshot trauma. Officers checked the victim for any signs of life and were unable to locate a pulse. EMS personnel arrived shortly after and declared the victim deceased at the scene.

Preliminary investigation indicates the victim, and an adult male suspect were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated into shots being fired.  The suspect left the scene in an unknown direction, and by unknown means, prior to officer arrival.

This incident is being investigated as a homicide and is ongoing at this time.
