JoCo Commish Kelly Considers COVID Cash Workaround After Lenexa Shelter FAIL

Progressives in Johnson County aren't taking NO for an answer when it comes to providing services for the growing population of homeless in their community.

Commissioner Chairman Mike Kelly shared his disappointment in Lenexa’s decision.

“I am deeply disappointed in the Lenexa City Council’s denial of reStart’s SUP application which prevents what I and many others feel is the right solution, at the right place and at the right time. Despite this setback, the work must continue,” Kelly said in a statement.

During the special meeting, the Johnson County board of commissioners will also direct staff to develop new options for housing services and programs using COVID-19 funds.
