Jackson County Prosecutor Defends Her Record With Data

This is the second time this year that the Jackson County Prosecutor has argued about crime stats.

Her latest post kinda just rehashed deets that we've seen before but tonight it deserves consideration.

She’s hoping to set the record straight, when it comes to what she’s calling a myth that the “prosecutor won’t prosecute”. She details her reasoning in her blog post, submitted Thursday.

“It’s misguided. It’s wrong. It’s false. I just want it to be corrected.” Jean Peters Baker said. “It’s (the blog post) not to defame anyone. It’s simply to show people how starkly inaccurate that false narrative is.”

“Any public servant that is carrying that message needs to stop it,” she stated. “The notion that we won’t prosecute. The facts bare it out that we will. We do and we will.”

According to a chart represented in the blog, out of nearly 9,000 larceny/theft offenses reported this year, only 52 total cases were presented to her office.

Jackson County prosecutor wants to debunk myth she won't file charges

Jean Peters Baker wants to make it clear, that if there's sufficient evidence, her office will file charges in property crimes.
