The virus formerly known as "monkey pox" now features far less hilarious nomenclature and seems even more threatening as it spreads around the globe.
Already, local officials are taking note and offering some form of protection beyond careful selection of partners and discouraging sex work participation/indulgence . . . Given that neither one of those methods are 100% effective given that people have always cheated and nobody is ever REALLY honest about how they do the horizontal boogie . . .
But I digress . . .
Here's the medical update . . .
"So far, no cases of the new strain of mpox have been reported in the United States. However, there are still ways to stay safe from the virus, especially if you expect to travel to the DRC or the surrounding area. The Kansas City Health Department offers mpox vaccinations to eligible individuals . . .
"Because the new variant is easily transmitted through sexual contact, WHO recommends vaccinations for sex workers and people with multiple sexual partners, as well as health care workers who could come in contact with the virus."
