Kansas City Streetcar Suffers Upcoming Shutdown 2024 FAIL

Yet again Kansas City residents are reminded that the streetcar isn't really a viable mode of transportation and mostly serves as a tourist attraction that kills old school biz in an effort to replace low-rent populations with fancy coffee shops and luxury living spaces.

Consider that complaints about parking in the River Market are met with a blunt response: "Just ride the streetcar!!!" We'll for the better part of a month that option won't be available thereby proving that transit planning in this cowtown is a bad joke. 

Here's the official note that will escape criticism from most local pundits who would rather opine on campaign season 2024 memes rather than look at a horrific legacy of municiapl planning that has destroyed most organic growth and displaced thousands on Kansas City Main Street . . . Check-it:

Kansas City Streetcar: Temporary Service Suspension

As part of the Main Street Extension construction, the downtown KC Streetcar service will be temporarily shut down for approximately 3 weeks. This temporary service suspension is estimated to start on September 30 and last for approximately three weeks. All work and schedules are weather and unforeseen circumstances dependent.

This service suspension is necessary in order to connect the existing downtown streetcar system to the Main Street Extension tracks. Other work taking place during the service shut down include:

- Remove the existing crossover located north of Pershing Road.
- Replace expansion joints on the Main Street Viaduct.
- Construct track near the existing crossover north of Pershing Road.
- Connect the existing line to the recently installed Pershing Crossover located in the intersection of Pershing Road and Main Street.  

RIDE KC BUS SERVICE WILL BE PROVIDED DURING THIS TIME

While KC Streetcar service is temporarily suspended, we will operate Ride KC buses on the streetcar route. These buses will stop at all streetcar stops and operate with regular streetcar hours. The service frequency will be 15-20- minutes. Main Street will remain open during this time as well.
