Kansas City Mayor Q Declares War Against Illegal Sideshows

This weekend Mayor Q has been suffering a barrage of criticism regarding rising crime and citywide lawlessness.

The complaints are varied and cover petty car break-in along significant threats to public safety.

What everyone seems to agree upon is that criminal takeover of local streets is rampant and needs to stop.

And so . . .

MAYOR Q NOW WAGES WAR AGAINST ILLEGAL SIDESHOWS WITH TOUGHER NEW PENALTIES!!!

As always . . . We're obligated to note that these are municipal fines and don't carry the same punch as state or felony charges.

Also . . .

With very little jail space . . . It's unclear where we'll put offenders.

Moreover . . .

Like it or not, property crime has not been a priority for the Jackson County Prosecutor's office and it's unclear if there will be any support of this "get tough" effort.

Let's not forget . . .

The Mayor already tried crackdown efforts in 2021 and they didn't work.

Still . . .

This move might be, at least, one small step toward taking back control of local streets.

Here are more deets . . .

"Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Quinton Lucas has announced that on Thursday, Aug. 15, he introduced new legislation that would crack down on illegal street racing. The move is meant to enhance enforcement as well as penalties.

"City records indicate that the legislation would amend Chapter 70 in the Code of Ordinances by repealing 3 sections and replacing them with new ones. The ordinance is specific to racing and sideshows.

"The first section proposes a $250 fine with up to 30 days in jail for those who are caught engaging in illegal street racing or burnouts on Kansas City roadways. The second violation would receive a $500 fine with up to 60 days in jail while the third kicks it up to a $1,000 fine and up to six months in jail."
