Kansas City 2024 Homicide #97: Man Shot Dead On Troost

Sadly, a proposed name change won't do much to prevent seemingly ubiquitous violence on this embattled stretch of Kansas City road.

Accordingly . . . There's the first report from the scene of a police investigation as KCMO slouches toward the this year's homicide century mark.

Homicide 19th and Troost

This morning just before 9:00 AM patrol officers were dispatched to the area of 19th and Troost on a possible dead body.

Upon arrival they located an adult male suffering from bodily trauma. EMS personnel responded and pronounced the victim deceased on scene.

Preliminary investigation by detectives and crime scene personnel revealed the victim had an apparent gunshot wound.  This is being investigated as a homicide.

Detectives are canvassing the area to locate witnesses, physical evidence, or any surveillance footage to help determine what led up to the victim being shot.
