Kansas City 2024 Homicide #93: Police Investigate Deadly Shooting

So far this week Kansas City has recorded nearly half a dozen homicides as the local quotient of violence continues to escalate as the Summer comes to an end.

Homicide 1200 Blk of Bellaire

This evening just before 8:00 PM patrol officers were dispatched to the area of 12th and Bellaire on an ambulance en route.

Upon arrival they located an unresponsive party in a vehicle on the roadway. The adult male victim appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene by EMS.

This is being investigated as a homicide. Detectives are canvassing the area to locate any possible witnesses. Crime scene investigators are also processing the scene for any physical evidence.

Detectives are working to identify all parties involved, as well as, the events that led up to the victim being shot.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.

KCPD investigate Saturday night homicide at 12th and Bellaire

Police say the man died at the scene.
