Homicide 63rd and Rockhill

Early this evening at around 5:18 PM officers responded to 63rd and Rockhill on a reported shooting.

Upon arrival officers located an adult male victim in a back parking lot adjacent to several businesses. The victim was suffering from gunshot wounds and the officers began performing life saving measures. Emergency medical personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.

This is being investigated as a homicide. Preliminary investigation revealed the victim was taking out trash when he observed multiple subjects by a vehicle. An interaction between the victim and subjects occurred that led to the victim being shot.

Detectives are interviewing several witnesses and reviewing any available surveillance footage. Crime scene personnel are processing the scene for physical evidence.
