Survey Seyz: Most Kansas City Gun Violence Occurs In Troost, Paseo & Prospect Corridors

The panel discussion was organized by two Jackson County lawmakers who are pushing to create an Office of Gun Violence Prevention. Yes, the biggest problem is in Kansas City, but it’s also in a portion of the city that sits in Jackson County. The purpose was to give a voice to the people whose neighborhoods are directly impacted.

According to the non-profit KC Common Good, 70-75% of gun violence occurs in just 10% of the city, a vertical line going down the map, primarily along the Troost, Paseo, and Prospect Corridors.

Jackson Co. neighborhood voices concerns with highest number of violent crimes in KC

The sanctuary at Macedonia Baptist Church at 1700 East Linwood Boulevard is spacious. The pews were far from full for a forum about possible solutions to neighborhood gun violence, but dozens who were there were vocal.
