Kansas City area Legislators endorse State Representative Patty Lewis for State Senate
Today, State Representative Patty Lewis (D-25) announced that several Kansas City area legislators have endorsed her campaign for Missouri Senate District 7: Representatives Michael Johnson, Emily Weber, Ashley Bland Manlove, Anthony Ealy Jr., Jamie Johnson, Ashley Aune, Maggie Nurrenbern, Eric Woods, Yolanda Young, Jerome Barnes, Aaron Crossley, Kemp Strickler, and Keri Ingle.
“In a year where reproductive freedom is the most important issue on the ballot, Patty Lewis is the best candidate in the race to fight for us in the Senate,” said State Rep. Emily Weber (D-24). “As her colleague for the past four years, I’ve seen her stand up to Republicans’ hateful agenda time and time again. I’m excited to see her continue to represent our community in the Senate!”
“I’m confident that Patty will show up and listen to her constituents in the Senate,” said State Rep. Anthony Ealy Jr. (D-36). “I’ve seen firsthand how she put her district first in the House. She’ll be an excellent Senator for her entire district, including South KC, Grandview, and the State of Missouri as a whole.”
“I’m so grateful to have the support of so many of my colleagues,” State Rep. Lewis said. “I look forward to continuing to work with them as a Senator to protect reproductive rights, prevent gun violence, and make Kansas City a great place for everyone to live.”
State Rep. Lewis has garnered support from a wide range of people and organizations since announcing her candidacy for the 7th Senate District, including Sen. Tracy McCreery (D-24), City Councilman Wes Rogers, Missouri Nurses Association, Planned Parenthood Great Plains Votes, Southland Progress, South KC Dems, Greater Kansas City Women’s Political Caucus, AFT Local 691, Teamsters Locals 41 and 541, IAFF Local 42, Laborers Locals 264 and 663, IBEW Local 124, and the Greater Kansas City AFL-CIO. Lewis has represented Missouri’s 25th House District for four years, and is currently running to fill the vacancy in the 7th Senate District created by a gubernatorial appointment.
