Kansas City Star Champions Black Cowboys

In what might the most completely worthless Monday front page story we've seen . . .

KANSAS CITY STAR "REPORTING" CHALLENGES OLD SCHOOL CONCEPTIONS OF BLACK COWBOYS!!! WTF?!?

And all of that might only prove that newspaper management is comprised of the worst kind of boomers of all.

Here's an argument NOBODY is making . . .

"Hollywood got it wrong, depicting an all-white, horse-and-cow-wrangling Old West. And Lil’ Nas X and Beyonce wearing cowboy hats, boots and singing country western is not as much of an aberration for Black Americans as folks have made it seem."

First of all . . . This argument was settled back in 1993 when Mario Van Peebles produced "Posse" which wasn't bad for a cheesy pop Western

Long before that . . .

Even a causal student of cinema has some understanding about "race movies" like Harlem Rides The Range which acknowledged and celebrated Black cowboys.

In fairness, we're obligated to share the diatribe disguised as news via www.TonysKansasCity.com link . . .

Cowboys have always been Black. This KC rancher wants everyone to know that history

"It wasn't until one day I had this revelation of how cool this culture is and that it needs to be preserved."

And readers who have made it this far deserve a treat . . .

One of our faves . . . A campy 1989 hip-hop classic dedicated to the legacy of Black Cowboys that's much more entertaining that anything the newspaper printed today . . .
