A quote liberated from the local biz mag . . . Here's a peek at local largess for pro-sports that shouldn't be overlooked when it comes to continued discussion about taxpayer partnership in development schemes:

"Port KC voted Monday to execute a sales tax contribution agreement with the Current's KC WFC StadCo LLC. Its terms will allow the Current to receive revenue from a 1% sales and use tax established through a Port Improvement District (PID) that encompasses CPKC Stadium and roughly 11 adjacent acres. The funds will reimburse the team for infrastructure costs, such as new sidewalks, streets, public utilities and parking.

"Established in March, the PID is expected to yield $20.3 million in taxes over 50 years to help the Current cover as much as $38 million in qualified project costs. Port KC will further support the Current's mixed-use infrastructure by contributing 50% of sales taxes generated at the team's parcels, by way of the riverfront's separate original PID. Rounding out the port's public assistance are partial property tax exemptions for the team's residential, office and retail plans, and sales tax exemptions on construction materials."
