A few reasons this is bad news . . .
- On the East side there are vast swaths of blocks and blocks without a nearby drug store after repeated thefts forced the places to close.
- This excellent reporting reveals that it'll be hard to repurpose these locations.
- Crime will just move from drug stores to even smaller local venues as poor people continue victimizing each other without many consequences.
Here's the biz angle that we've "liberated" from the local news . . .
"In late 2021, CVS announced plans to close roughly 900 stores through 2024. Multiple local stores were affected, including most recently a location at 2435 Independence Ave. in Kansas City that closed in June. During a June earnings call, Walgreens revealed it also planned to close additional stores."
