And so . . . After all these years . . . The Kemper clan could have the last laugh on Kansas City with an economic border war kill shot.
Remember that KC leaders weren't so concerned after the American Royal decided to relocate back in 2016. Farm-y events didn't seem like the right fit for a town that hoped to achieve status as an "International city" with a bustling downtown.
And now . . .
The creation of a Major Professional Sports Franchise (MPSF) STAR bond district could see Royals & Chiefs relocate to the American Royal grounds and create a MEGA-CAMPUS that still might not be able to pay off BILLIONS worth of cash borrowed in the name of taxpayers.
To wit . . .
AMERICAN ROYAL EARNS LAST LAUGH AGAINST KANSAS CITY PROPER OR HAVE WE CAUGHT LEADERS IN TOPEKA DAY DREAMING?!?!
For now that's an open question.

"Kansas lawmakers approved a supercharged STAR bond incentive package intended to entice the Kansas City Chiefs or Royals to move across the state line.
"The measures allows for the creation of a Major Professional Sports Franchise (MPSF) STAR bond district. For MPSF projects, STAR bonds could cover as much as 70% of the total cost. The new district could also envelop property in an existing STAR bond district, including noncontiguous land parcels.
"There has been plenty of speculation about where the teams could build. The area surrounding the Legends Outlets, nearby where the American Royal is under construction, is often talked about . . . Wyandotte County property records show the American Royal owns about 120 acres in the proposed STAR bond boundary . . .
