The number of local killings has declined but the devastating impact of homicides on families throughout the metro shouldn't be underestimated.

"The group noted the increasing number of homicides each year. When she joined the group in 2018, there were 400 signs at the vigil. This year, there were 725.
"The group held a prayer and set up a bubble station to remember those murdered.
"In addition to holding vigils, Corey's Network also raises funds to help families of homicide victims pay for funerals. Over the past decade, the group has assisted more than 400 area families with funeral expenses.
