The latest addition to the KCMO homicide count includes important witness cooperation as Summer violence continues to spike.
Here is the first report . . .
Homicide 55th and Paseo
This morning just before 9AM, officers were in the area of E 55th and Paseo Blvd when they heard several sounds of gunshots. Officers began to canvass the area where they believed the gunshots came from when a shooting call was reported nearby.
Officers were flagged down by several people on scene advising someone had been shot. An adult male victim was located outside of a vehicle parked in the area unresponsive and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Officers rendered medical aid until EMS arrived and declared the victim deceased on scene.
The circumstances surrounding this incident are currently unknown and no one is in custody.
Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to begin gathering evidence and collecting witness statements.
This is being investigated as a homicide and is ongoing at this time.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
