In the early morning hours Kansas City police answered the call from the East side upon reports of shots fired. After making an arrest nearby, law enforcement continues to investigate the second homicide so far this week.

Homicide 2400 Block of Brighton
This morning about 12:20 am officers were dispatched to a house in the 2400 block of Brighton on a shooting call.
On arrival officers located an adult male shooting victim unresponsive next to the residence there.
Officers called for EMS who responded and declared the victim deceased here at the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates the victim and a suspect had an interaction inside the residence that escalated to shots being fired and the victim being struck.
Based on information received by officers at the scene A subject of interest was detained at a separate location for further investigation.
We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
