This tragic crime scene continues to unfold this morning as police investigate a deadly shooting.
Here's the first report and the latest info . . .
Homicide 500 block of Booth Ave
Tonight just after 9:30pm officers were dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of Booth on a shooting call.
On arrival officers contacted a caller in front of the house who advised there was a female inside the residence who had been shot.
The caller told officers there was possibly a subject of interest inside the residence who was possibly involved with the shooting.
Upon approaching the house officers could see inside there was an adult female shooting victim, unresponsive, on the floor.
Officers made entry into the house to rescue the shooting victim and get her outside the residence.
Upon securing and removing the victim, they evacuated her to a safe distance while simultaneously surrounding the residence to prevent any escape of any potential subject that may be involved.
From nearby Officers called for EMS for treatment of the shooting victim. EMS transported her to the hospital where she was subsequently declared deceased a short time later.
Officers ultimately called for an operation 100 to bring additional tactical officers to the scene to safely clear the residence to continue the investigation.
Homicide detectives are at the command post along with the tactical response officers and they are coordinating their efforts to both safely bring a peaceful resolution to the events and conduct a thorough investigation of this homicide.
I will provide updates to the efforts to clear the residence as they are available. There are not believed to be any additional people inside the residence other than the subject of interest.
Once the scene is secure Crime Scene Investigators will process the scene for evidence to hopefully give detectives an idea of what led up to the shooting.
If anyone heard or saw anything in this area or has any information they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.
