Kansas City 2024 Homicide #79: Gunfire Kills Man On Sidewalk

BY OUR COUNT THERE HAVE BEEN FIVE PEOPLE REPORTEDLY KILLED THIS WEEK BY WAY OF DEADLY GUNFIRE!!!

For us this confirms that we shouldn't have too much confidence in political rhetoric over falling crime stats even if KCMO is diligently working to try and curb the homicide rate.

Homicide 2200 block E. 69th Ter.

This afternoon just before 3pm officers were called to the 2200 block of E.69th Ter on a shooting call.

On arrival officers located an adult male shooting victim unresponsive on the sidewalk in front of a residence there.

Officers rendered aid and summoned EMS to the scene who declared the victim deceased.

Detectives and Crime Scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence and canvassing for witnesses.

Preliminary investigation indicates the victim had an interaction with an unknown suspect or suspects at that location that led to gunfire and the victim being struck. The suspect(s) then left the scene in an unknown direction.

If anyone heard or saw anything in this area or has any information they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.

One person killed in shooting near E. 69th Terrace, Brooklyn Avenue

The shooting was reported just before 3 p.m. in the area of E. 69th Terrace and Brooklyn Avenue, just east of The Paseo.
