Kansas City 2024 Homicide #78: Gunfire Kills Woman At Gas Station

By our www.TonysKansasCity.com count this is the 4th homicide documented so far this week as local numbers continue to spike during this soggy and sweaty Summer season.

Here is the first report . . .

Homicide 31st and Bell

This morning just after 1am officers were dispatched to 31st and Bell to the gas station parking lot on a shooting call.

On arrival officers located an adult female shooting victim unresponsive inside a vehicle in the parking lot. Officers summoned EMS to the scene who declared the victim deceased.

Detectives and crime scene investigators are here now processing the evidence, canvassing for witnesses and talking to people who were at the scene when officers arrived.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was in a vehicle in the north side of the parking lot when shots were fired by unknown suspects, from outside the victim vehicle into it, striking her. The victim vehicle then rolled to a stop on the south side of the parking lot where officers located it.

If anyone heard or saw anything in this area or has any information they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
