Sean Smith: The Jackson County Legislature is currently considering Ordinance 5864.
If passed, the County Code would be amended to require that the Jackson County Assessor be an elected official instead of appointed by the County Executive.
Sean Smith has created a petition to ask the Qualified Voters of Jackson County if they would support this ballot initiative. The petition was created on Change.org on June 26th, one day before the Jackson County property tax trial was scheduled to begin in court. Due to multiple motions filed against Sean, he decided not to make the petition public at that time. His office sent out this petition on Thursday July 18th. In three days it received over 1,000 signatures.
