Jackson County 'Chiefs Only' Stadium Tax Dies In Divisive Committee

Here's a worthwhile exchange that shows us how nasty this debate is getting in public . . . 

Chair Megan Marshall decided to hold or table the measure, prompting a heated exchange with Abarca, who, although not a committee member, was there to facilitate discussion on the measures.

"Can I not speak on the ordinance?" Abarca asked.

"No, I gave you an opportunity to answer many members questions on this committee," Marshall replied.

"According to your rules, there are no rules that govern that. So, would you like to acknowledge your fellow colleague, legislator or not?" Abarca questioned.

"I'm going to acknowledge the colleagues that are on this committee," Marshall replied.

She also deferred any legislative action until Missouri Governor Mike Parson and Jackson County Executive Frank White worked out deals with the Chiefs and possibly the Royals.
