Tonight we consider the career arc of local activists and how fighting passionately for a cause isn't always financially beneficial.

Here's recent only testimony shared regarding the hardships of a former KC Tenants employee . . .
Now, we're not gonna share the person's name because we checked and this post wasn't public. However, KC Tenants is a political advocacy group so we feel comfortable in sharing the deets regarding their compensation packages that don't seem very generous.
Moreover . . .
This message is important to local politics and policy because it clearly demonstrates that so many representatives of KC Tenants are PAID WORKERS and not volunteers.
Very often locals and newsies mistake KC Tenants activism for a grassroots movement when, in fact, many protesters and most organizers are paid just like any other job.
None of that is to say that their concerns aren't valid and we actually support quite a bit of their push back against corporate interests.
Still . . .
The problem with this non-profit concern is that many of their donors, patrons and benefactors are hidden from public view.
Still, here at www.TonysKansasCity.com we think it's important to realize that workers for this organization CONFRONT THE SAME KIND OF ECONOMIC HARDSHIPS that are also endured by the people they're working to help.
