The 24-36 hours surrounding July 4th proved EXCEPTIONALLY DEADLY for Kansas City proper.

A 79-year-old woman died of gunfire injuries on the night before the 4th.
A woman was killed in the QT parking lot on Southwest Blvd in the early morning hours.
A man was gunned down on the sidewalk near The Paseo on July 4th afternoon.

More than anything this aftermath report should signal that the fight against record-breaking homicide numbers last year STILL requires a great deal of effort and attention.
The problem is far from solved.
