Tonight, our TKC blog community takes a quick look at the latest from Kansas City Police as the they navigate a violent Summer and, thankfully, were able to bring about a peaceful resolution to this recent ruckus.
Here's the report . . .
Operation 100 1300 blk of Highland
This afternoon at around 1:00 PM officers responded to a 911 call for service in the area of the 1300 blk of Highland regarding a disturbance.
Officers gathered information that several individuals were possibly being held against their will inside an apartment building. As officers arrived they surrounded the residence to protect other residents and prevent escape. Officers on scene also began verbal contact with the subject in order to get him to exit the residence peacefully. Their attempts were unsuccessful and an Operation 100 was called.
Tactical officers and trained negotiators responded to the scene. Negotiations continued for several hours. At approximately 3:00 PM multiple individuals exited the residence. An hour later an additional individual exited the residence. The subject of interest remained the lone occupant of the apartment.
Negotiations continued into the evening. At about 8:30 PM the subject was taken into custody without incident pending further investigation.
There were no injuries reported to any involved parties or police officers. The investigation remains ongoing.
