Kansas City Crossroads Suffers Downtown Stadium & Chiefs Regret

Let's start with a truism . .  .

Brash decisions mostly based on emotion ALWAYS spark regret.

Accordingly, and contradicting Internets trolling and fake economic data . . .

KANSAS CITY CROSSROADS SUFFERS REGRET AS LOSING CHIEFS & ROYALS BECOMES A REALITY!!!

Don't worry . . .

We have a counterpoint to this idea that we plan to post later.

However . . . For not let's consider .  . .

- Crime is rising in the Crossroads and there's a realization that the "downtown renaissance" that boosted the district is quickly fading.

- C'mon man . . . A tattoo shop, an LGBT bar and more than a half dozen empty coffee shops can't sustain this district for long.

- The Chiefs & Royals moving means FEWER visitors for Downtown Kansas City. Chasing economic activity away to the edges of the metro simply isn't a good idea for the Crossroads no matter what phony economic study Facebook denizens can pull out of their bum.

- 3/8th of a cent THAT YOU'RE ALREADY GOING TO PAY isn't a bad price for INTERNATIONAL PUBLICITY that will now be focused elsewhere.

- To be fair, TKC arguments are more clearly laid out and open to public comment whilst that billionaire jerk John Sherman mistakenly believed he was entitled to BILLIONS without a peep or a solid plan.

Accordingly . . . Let's take a look at "progress" as Kansas City, MO quickly turns into Detroit . .

Kansas Senate President Ty Masterson and House Speaker Dan Hawkins say a bill to bring the Chiefs to Kansas and finance a new stadium with STAR bonds is in the works and will be "ready to go" for the start of the special session on June 18.

If there's enough interest from rank-and-file members, the bill could be brought to the floor during the session called by Gov. Laura Kelly to pass tax relief.

More context from The Courthouse . . .

While news from Kansas seems to ramp up the urgency of inking a deal, White doesn’t believe that is the case. At least not yet.

“I think you always pay attention to what’s going on. I wouldn’t say you’re overly concerned about what’s going on at this point,” White said.

White also mentioned talks between the county and the two teams hasn’t moved much since a failed sales tax vote in April. The tax would have paid for to build a new Kauffman Stadium and funded renovations at Arrowhead.
