Kansas City 2024 Homicide #72: Woman Shot & Killed At Linwood Apartment Building

This is the 3rd homicide so far in the first full week of Summer.

Whilst politicos have been touting a drop in violent crime compared to last year's historic numbers, our blog community has noted that Summer typically starts the most deadly time of year in Kansas City proper.

Accordingly, here's the latest report . . .

Homicide 2000 blk of E Linwood

This afternoon at 12:09 PM officers were dispatched to an apartment building in the 2000 block of E. Linwood on a reported shooting.

Upon arrival they were directed to a residence within the apartment building.  Inside of an apartment officers located an adult female victim suffering from an apparent gun shot wound.  Officers rendered aid and simultaneously ordered EMS.  Emergency personnel pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

This is being investigated as a homicide.  Detectives are working diligently to identity all parties involved and any relation they have to the apartment building.  They will continue to canvass the building and area to identify any potential witnesses or locate surveillance footage.  Crime scene personnel are also working to gather any physical evidence to help give an indication of what led up to the shooting.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.

Police respond to homicide in Key Coalition neighborhood of Kansas City

Kansas City, Missouri, police are investigating a fatal shooting in the 2000 block of E. Linwood Boulevard.

KCPD officers responded to the shooting just after 12 p.m. in the area of E. Linwood Boulevard and Garfield Avenue.
