Kansas City LGBT Commish Justice Horn Abruptly Calls It Quits

A rising star Kansas City politico creates a stir over the weekend with this surprising departure from the forefront of local activism.

Consider this for those who are nice enough to give the guy just a bit of grace on Sunday . . .

The guy is in his early 20s so he certainly deserves every right to change his mind about a lot of things.

Still . . .

The young man is a local politico and progressive leader so it's also true that voters have every right to ask if there's anything more to this story. Moreover . . . Anybody who knows ANYTHING about KC's LGBT political leadership understands that big moves like this one usually entail more than a bit of drama.

For now, this is what we know . . . Pretty much what he shared via social media . . .

On Sunday, Justice Horn sent the Kansas City Council a letter notifying them of his resignation and departure from Kansas City.

The commission helps shape legislation to make Kansas City a safer, more equitable place for people in the LGBTQ community. It was created in collaboration with more than 60 local organizations in December of 2020.

He posted a notice that he would be stepping down on x, saying: "After much thought, I've made the decision to move on from my role as a city commissioner and no longer call Kansas City home. I am more committed to this fight than ever before, but I want to fight the good fight in my hometown. Thank you so so much for the great times and memories Kansas City—You made this kid from Blue Springs feel like one of y’all."
