Recently, TKC readers have sent word our way about the fashion choices of Kansas City 6th District Councilman Johnathan Duncan.
His Palestinian flag pin has sparked questions from those who seem to disagree with his politics.
Rather than speculate on the pin or theorize about its meaning. We decided to go straight to the source.
We THANK THE COUNCILMAN for taking a moment out of his busy schedule to address this very quick question and concern from some of his constituents . . .
Here's the note he sent back our way just moments ago . . .
"I've worn the Palestinian flag pin for months, and have been very public about my support for Palestine. On 10/18/2023 I called for a ceasefire and encouraged others to call their representatives to encourage them to call for the same. On 3/31/2024 I posted again about the genocide in Gaza. I will continue to advocate for an immediate end to the genocide in Gaza, a releasing of all hostages, and peaceful end to the conflict where Palestine is recognized as a fully autonomous state."
The word generously sent to TKC answers our questions but it might not satisfy everyone.
The context that we think is important . . .
At the very least . . . So many who love Jason Kander might part company with his nod for this candidate nowadays.
To be fair . . .
The latest Holy Land war is creating rifts amongst the Democratic Party even more critical than local politics.
Nevertheless . . .
Our www.TonysKansasCity.com readers thought this local context was important and we wanted to get the whole thing on record.
You decide . . .
