
For better or worse, it seems that highly publicized allegations of racism & discrimination are easier to make than ACTUALLY getting out there and galvanizing public opinion.
OR . . .
Maybe there really isn't that much negative sentiment out there against the city manager.
From our perspective . . .
We've noticed that just about everybody who talks with KCMO City Manager Brian Platt seems to have a good impression of his skill, intelligence and concern with local neighborhoods.
Even if TKC might disagree with some of his policies, there's no denying that he's one of the most competent people at 12th & Oak.
(Lulz, after writing that . . . No, we don't mean that as a backhanded compliment even if local government workers often get a great deal of hateration.)
For now, here's the aftermath of cowtown political sentiments that didn't take hold . . .
"Urban League of Greater Kansas City President Gwendolyn Grant and four other petitioners attempted to force the city council to either cancel Platt’s 16% pay raise and contract extension, or put it up for a public vote in August. They had until last week to collect the required number of verified signatures — equal to at least 10% of those who voted in the last mayoral election, which was 4,137 in this case. But no petition forms were turned in by the deadline, City Clerk Marilyn Sanders said."
