Here's a bit of public art that will be tagged onto tribute to the former Prez at 12th & Oak . . . Don't worry, it's going to be awful . . .
One artist will have the chance for their installation to become part of City Hall's history. This artwork will be placed on the southwest corner lawn of City Hall grounds. This project is funded by the City’s One Percent for Art program and is part of the renovation of the City Hall parking garage, estimated to be complete in July of 2025.
The U.S. based professional visual artist will create a piece of art to be placed adjacent to the iconic statue of Abraham Lincoln and his son, Tad.
Preference will be given to artists based in the Kansas City area. The selected artist will receive a budget of $140,000 to cover all aspects of design, fabrication, transportation, installation, and lighting of the artwork. The application deadline is 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024.
