The latest addition to the local murder count still trails behind last year's record breaking numbers but not by as much as we'd like . . . Here's the first report of deadly crime at the outset of Springtime . . .
Homicide 38th and Wyandotte
This morning right at 5 o’clock officers were dispatched to 38th and Wyandotte on a sound of shots call. While officers were on the way the call was upgraded to a shooting call.
On arrival officers located an adult male shooting victim unresponsive in the street mid-block on Wyandotte.
Officers rendered aid and called EMS to the scene who declared the victim deceased.
Detectives and crime scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence and canvassing for witnesses. There are several apartments and homes in this area so we are hopeful that someone heard or saw something that can give detectives more information about what took place here.
If anyone was in this area this morning and heard or saw anything or has any information they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.
We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
