Kansas City Royals Will Likely Need More Taxpayer Funding For Stadium Scheme

Here's the punchline . . .

The upcoming April vote merely gets the ball rolling.

TKC Fact Check . . . And something that's widely known amongst insiders but most newsies aren't allowed to mention . . .

OVER THE NEXT DECADE KANSAS CITY ROYALS WILL NEED MORE SOURCES OF TAXPAYER REVENUE FOR THEIR PROPOSED STADIUM DISTRICT!!!

This is a not-so-insignificant point that has been downplayed by a great deal of local coverage.

It's critical to understand that this vote isn't the last ask for Downtown and MORE MONEY will be required DESPITE VAGUE ASSURANCES to the contrary.

Yes . . . Our journalistic betters might demand a bit more proof for this truism but we're merely providing AN ACCURATE PREDICTION so that somebody might go back and check in a few years. You've been warned.

Accordingly, here are the basics of the ask:

A “yes” vote would repeal the existing sales tax, set to expire in 2031, and replace it with a new sales tax that is not restricted to the Truman Sports Complex. The money would be used to repair Arrowhead Stadium and to construct and maintain the new downtown stadium. It also extends the tax until 2064.

A “no” vote will continue funding Truman Sports Complex — which includes Arrowhead Stadium and Kauffman Stadium — using the existing 3/8-cent sales tax until 2031.
