Kansas City Playlist: Chiefs Dynasty Destroyed By Mass Shooting?!?

A simple question to prove the thesis of the headline . . .

WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER ABOUT THE KANSAS CITY CHIEFS SUPER BOWL VICTORY IN 2024?!?

Hardcore football fans might bring up several deets from the games. Middle-aged might ladies might reference Taylor Swift kisses or dancing with crowd.

However . . .

HISTORY WILL REMEMBER THIS YEAR'S SUPER BOWL FOR THE TRAGIC & DEADLY MASS SHOOTING!!!

Sorry . . .

Global headlines of shock, fear, despair and gun control debate will resonate much longer than football game highlights.

It's a disappointing conclusion but also fair.

Gun violence throughout the nation and the historic deadly crime wave confronting Kansas City impacts far more people than even the most important championship game.

Accordingly . . .

Our TKC blog community notes the impact of the mass shooting on local history given that very few people in Kansas City will dare to report this fundamental truth.

And all of this inspires our www.TonysKansasCity.com playlist on the topic of legacies . . .

Eminem has earned a place as one of the definitive voices of hip-hop by way of lyrical skill and honesty about his personal life. His song "Legacy" offers a glimpse of both and starts our list tonight . . .

This old TV clip is one of our favorites . . . Donovan retells the nearly lost legend of Atlantis on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.

Bob Marley & The Wailers "Could You Be Loved" makes our list if only because the LEGEND CD was required listening for anyone with a car in the 90s.

The Twenty One Pilots tune "Legend" is sort of a hipster anthem and good enough for us to reference tonight.

Finally, Don McLean singing "American Pie" is a testament to the death culture which has defined this nation throughout the modern era. The tune is a bit too maudlin for our tastes but there's no denying its impact and how it has spoken to one generation of tragically unhappy frat guys after the next.

As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe & fun Saturday night.
