In the aftermath of the deadly Kansas City Super Bowl parade mass shooting, local news has focused mostly on the political and personal impact of the tragedy.
Cowtown coverage MOSTLY follows along three angles:
- Advocacy against gun rights.
- Hopeful stories of celebrity donations and volunteerism.
- Local eyewitness testimony and inspiring reports of recovery after injury.
Meanwhile back in reality . . .
National & international news outlets share a more realistic portrayal of the deadly scene on the ground level. This weekend images and video of very young teens engaged in a fierce argument has hit the Internets.
What's more remarkable . . .
KANSAS CITY NEWS OUTLETS HAVE ALL BUT IGNORED VIDEO CLIPS OF ALLEGED SUSPECT FROM THE SCENE!!!
Last night we talked about the implications of some of the footage and provided news links.
And, to be fair to our local newsie betters, we're not going to show any of the images on this blog but we're also not going to ignore the information that's freely & widely available published by legit news organizations.
"In the footage, obtained by TMZ, a teen in the background wearing a red sweatshirt can be seen removing his backpack while arguing with someone off-camera.
"A young man in a black hoodie and another in a brown jacket and white sweatshirt can also be seen walking towards the direction of the argument happening out of frame.
"The person in the brown jacket, who also had a bandana covering his face, appears to be the same individual who was later tackled to the ground, as seen in a video that went viral shortly after the incident.
"Two other young men pop into the frame a moment later, with one in a red beanie appearing to be reaching for something in his coat."
Again . . . It's not our place to show the images and it should be noted that right now the juvenile charges hope to protect the identity of the youngsters.
However . . . In a digital world that's connected to information across the globe. Local news ignoring the reports from MAINSTREAM news outlets seems to deny the reality of the tragedy and instead focuses solely on politics and human interest stories rather than the facts of the historic incident.
