Conservative Pundits Claim Kansas City Controlled By Gangs

Special thanks to KICK-ASS READERS for sharing this bit of content wherein a widely-read right-wing pundit offers a "gang map" of the Kansas City metro.

First thing with respect to the top publicity still photo from the iconic 2012 critically acclaimed flop Spring Breakers . . .

The premise is correct. Kansas City has a long history of gang violence along with a new wave of gangs powered by the drug trade.

However . . . The "map break" looks like it was drawn up by some shut-in white lady from Belton.

The Crips Vs. Bloods rivalry denoted by the map has grown far more complex than the tweet would indicate. Some members of KC gangs who are affiliated with the "crip" legacy likely couldn't explain the connection or what it means. In fact, old school crip sets fight with other crips and imposing the silly Red Vs. Blue 90s-era logic wouldn't begin to understand so many longstanding personal rivalries and/or violence that's fueled by gangs, drugs, romantic disputes and random personal beef.

For a much more in-depth & first person narrative on how the "crips" spread across the nation we recommend and older book that offers a perspective on the origin story of the gang and details into how the criminal association became an urban institution:

Monster: The Autobiography of an L.A. Gang Member

Also . . .

We're not sure if "Hispanic hoods" means "neighborhoods" or ??? There is no gang in KCK called "The Hispanic Hoods" as noted by the map . . . In fact, locals know that KCK has garnered an unprecedented DROP in violent crime thanks to aggressive police policies.

Still . . . We don't dispute the basic premise that gang violence is, in fact, a problem worth addressing in a more productive way than a really bad (but very popular) Google map put together by somebody's mom.

Here's the quote . . .

"Kansas City gangs are so out of control residents have been making Google Maps to know which control what areas of Killa City

"The city does nothing"
