Jackson County Legislature Threatens To Evict Exec Frank White

Long, long ago . . . In April of 2022, Jackson County was flush with cash and negotiated a deal worth 9 MILLION BUCKS to buy an empty office building. Now, that same property could be sold for a single dollar.

Insider tell us . . .

"This deal was orchestrated by Executive Frank White's team and if the Legislature kicks him out of these offices . . . He'll never have any credibility on land acquisitions. That's important going into the stadium deal . . .

The insider continued . . .

"This is the legislature getting tough with the Exec's team and on this deal I don't blame them . . . The office building was NEVER suited for County business, it needs MILLIONS MORE worth of retrofitting and additional repairs. It's a heck of a loss but it all belongs to the Executive's office."

Accordingly . . . The former DST purchase not only signal the power shift on the Legislature but also provides a very big clue that hard feeling betwixt colleagues in Jackson County persist.

And so, recently sent to www.TonysKansasCity.com, here's a peek at the legislation that has been unnoticed by MSM so far . . .

A RESOLUTION authorizing the County Executive or the Chairman of the Legislature to convey the County-owned property located at 1300 Washington Street, Kansas City, MO 64105, to the City of Kansas City, for $1.00 and other valuable consideration.

Highlights from the legislative text . . .

Jackson County acquired the building located at 1300 Washington Street to serve as a new County Administration building; and,

WHEREAS, the space is currently being used by some departments in Jackson County; and,

WHEREAS, complete transition of administrative departments to the current space has met delays as the building is in need of renovations that have not yet been funded; and,
