In a defiant social media post, Marine, Jackson County Legislator and new Vice Chair lashes out at her political opposition.
I guess her new nickname as "Captain Marvel" might've stung more than most would've guessed.
However . . .
Here at TKC we admire her candor and willingness to express her sentiments in writing.
Nevertheless . . .
Let's not forget that her opposition now includes key members of Jackson County Democratic Party leadership and some of the more strident members of Freedom, Inc. who had formerly supported her candidacy. For many, this "bipartisan" move might seem more like a sellout.
And so . . .
Here's the quote that stood out to our blog community along with a link to her comments in full:
"The recent leadership selection process was not without its partisan threats and pressures. I commend the courage of my colleagues who chose to maintain their integrity in the face of gutter politics from some of the highest office holders across our state. I thank you, and the people of Jackson County thank you. Your courage under fire is exactly what is needed to fix a broken political system that continues to pump out new forms of injustice and inequity every day.
"The divisive nature of contemporary politics often tempts us to retreat into our respective party affiliations, viewing compromise as a sign of weakness rather than a pathway to progress. However, I firmly believe that choosing partisanship over progress is a disservice to the people we are sworn to serve."
