Jackson County Cancels Stadium Committee After Tax Deal

Thanks to KICK-ASS & TRUSTED INSIDERS our blog community has more PROOF that upcoming conversations about the new downtown stadium will mostly take place in secret.

Here's one more reason why . . .

JACKSON COUNTY "STADIUM IMPROVEMENTS COMMITTEE" NOW KAPUT THE STADIUM TAX DEAL!!!

Local news mostly doesn't follow courthouse politics and the committee level any more and that's why we have to thank KICK-ASS INSIDERS for sending work our way.

Consider and to be fair . . .

Jackson County Stadium Improvements Committee decided to start meeting behind closed door last month and only Fox4 took notice.

Now . . .

Insiders direct us to Jackson County committee assignments after new leadership has taken hold. Notice there is no more stadium improvements committee listed.

Additionally . . .

Check the county calendar and notice that there aren't any stadium improvement committee meetings scheduled as of this writing.

Here's INSIDER perspective that's worthy of consideration . . .

"Basically you have 'progressives' like Legislators Marshall & Anderson collaborating with Republicans to do county business in secret. We all know there are a lot more details that need to be hashed out but right now . . . Without a public committee . . . There's not even any hope that the public or journalists will have a place to ask questions and hold their elected officials accountable. Think about that for a second, that's 40 years worth of taxpayer funding that's now decided without any mechanism for the public to voice their opinion outside of elections. People are critical of Manny Abarca but at least he had public forums where people could speak on the topic. Now. At this point. There's nothing."

And so .  . .

Because information wants to be free . . .

INSIDERS ADVOCATE FOR THE REINSTATEMENT OF THE STADIUM IMPROVEMENTS COMMITTEE & REMIND NEW LEGISLATIVE LEADERSHIP THAT THEY'RE NOT WORKING IN SECRET!!!

Going forward . . .

We think that the demand for regularly scheduled public meetings on the progress of the Downtown Stadium and improvements for Arrowhead remain critical.

Why???

At the moment people are getting bad info like this from the Truman Sports Complex wiki page

"Kauffman Stadium is set to be demolished following the ending of the Kansas City Royals lease in 2031. As of 2023 the Royals have approved construction of the new stadium, which will be located in the East Village region of Kansas City, approximately 6 blocks from T-Mobile Center. The new stadium features several unique architectural features including an updated version of the "CrownVision" digital scoreboard, and fountains that tie into history of Kansas City. While the Complex Authority has yet to release plans for the site of the old stadium, it is rumored that the Kansas City Chiefs will be using this area to expand the Ford Tailgate Zone, a public tailgating area located between the 2 stadiums used before NFL games, to include enclosed tailgate suites, shops, food courts and much more."

Consider: NONE OF THAT has been confirmed by the teams or the county or the sports complex authority

Meanwhile, www.TonysKansasCity.com readers know that there's so much more to debate about the future of stadium taxes, community benefits and additional proposals.
