TKC EXCLUSIVE: Kansas City Public Radio & Public TV Confront Demands To Unionize

Context by way of KICK-ASS INSIDERS . . .

Earlier this year the STLPR Guild became the first public media union in Missouri. The vote was conducted under laws governing public-sector employees via a secret ballot, administered by the Missouri Board of Mediation.

And now . . .

Insiders reveal that both KCUR and KCPS confront unionization demands that have been heretofore unmentioned and mostly unreported by local media.

A quickie quote . . .

"Local progressives are quick to report about the big, bad coffee giant or other industries but notice that they're really quiet when it comes to their own problems. The union demands are real and they're confronting tough resistance from local media institutions that want to always portray themselves as the good guy even as they're soon to get called out by union organizers."
