"Three of the four states that border Kansas have also legalized marijuana in some form. Colorado and Missouri have legalized marijuana for recreational use, while Oklahoma has legalized medical marijuana.
"So why haven’t we gotten any form of action by legislatures yet, if there is major support for it?
"I think the answer is simple: as Republican party leaders within the state ignore their constituents, it’s easy to realize that they don’t understand what Kansas wants.
"This was especially evident during the 2022 Kansas abortion referendum that was rejected."

Kansas Speaks, a statewide survey conducted from Fort Hays State University, found in its Fall 2023 results that 67.2% of Kansans support legalizing recreational marijuana for adults 21 and over.
