How Should Kansas Spend Extra Cash?!?

Sadly . . . Neither Republicans nor Democratic Party leaders will acknowledge the FAIL from the pandemic or recent court attacks and the subsequent realization that KANSAS NEEDS MAJOR TECH UPDATES to survive growing dependence of government on IT as the Sunflower State moves forward. 

Meanwhile . . . The current partisan debate seems like something torn from a newspaper in the 90s . . .

That’s right, friends and neighbors — by the end of fiscal year 2024, next summer, experts predict that Kansas will have a staggering $2.8 billion in the bank, along with $1.7 billion in a rainy day fund. The number proves that reversing Brownback’s “experiment” didn’t just repair the state’s finances, but actually gives lawmakers new options.

Both Democrats and Republicans have girded themselves for battle over how to spend the surplus.

GOP leaders likely want to pass a new version of the flat tax that nearly became law earlier this year. Gov. Laura Kelly, in the waning days of last session, proposed one-time rebates for Kansans of $450 for individuals and $900 for married couples. Democratic leaders have proposed property tax relief.
