Sorry, but the answer is NO.
TKC follows homicide stats just as closely as anybody in the metro and ANYONE who has looked at these numbers over time realizes that individual cases are added and REMOVED . . . OFTEN.
There's an Internets conspiracy theory that police are working with Mayor Q to curb crime reporting. That's FALSE because these stats don't have much to do with 12th & Oak. That's why we trust KCPD numbers . . . Because they are PEER REVIEWED and sent to the FBI and then the Department of Justice upon completion. And nobody is going risk federal entanglements just to make the self-described "Aldi-brand-Obama" happy.
As of this writing and before circumstances change . . . KCPD Daily Homicide report is one of the most valuable pieces of information in all of the Kansas City metro and . . . Again, we trust these numbers BECAUSE OF POLICE TRANSPARENCY & OPEN COMMUNICATION more than the fake stats that the KC Star touts over official numbers.
And so . . . Here's the latest bit of data maintenance as KCMO still confronts another record breaking year for local murder . . .
A man who called 911 said he was a relative and checking on her since "he had not heard from her in a period of time."
Police initially called the case a suspicious death but had homicide detectives investigating since KCPD said Barnes' death was likely not natural.
On Tuesday, police said the medical examiner ruled her death as "undetermined;" however, the believe the 64-year-old was already dead before she was shot.
The case is now considered a death investigation, dropping Kansas City's homicide total, as of Tuesday, to 176.
