"The city is trying to pass this through while we’re not looking – Thanksgiving week, the Chief’s MNF game and what’s most concerning to me is the timing as it’s listed as the last agenda item before the new council members are sworn in during the December council meeting. Why is the city lawyer being asked to investigate whether members of the city council and the mayor (the lawyer’s own clients) violated the Code of Ethics? How is that not a conflict of interest in itself? How does the city lawyer “RECOMMEND THE COUNCIL COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE REJECT ALL COMPLAINTS UNDER THE CODE OF ETHICS FILED . . .” then proceed within Monday night’s agenda to completely GUT and REWRITE the Code of Ethics?"
