Lady Suspects Injured Amid Overland Park Police Chase Crash

Tonight's TV news top story is the sordid tale of alleged shoplifters running from police.

After a string of robberies in the area during Christmas shopping season . . . Here's the aftermath . . .

Overland Park police were called out to a felony theft in progress at around 4:30 p.m. on Monday in the 7900 block of W. 160th Street.

Witnesses told police three female suspects in a vehicle were leaving the scene.

A police supervisor arrived in the area and identified the suspect vehicle.

The supervisor attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the suspect's vehicle made contact with the patrol vehicle and fled northbound onto US. 69 Highway from W.159th Street.

The suspects refused to pull over.

At Blue Valley Parkway and W.119th Street, police say the suspect's vehicle ran a red light and struck a vehicle heading westbound.

The crash resulted in two of the suspects being transported to an area hospital in serious condition. The third suspect was taken into custody.
